Greater Bay Area Homeland Development Fund and Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation Officially Launched

officiated the kick-off ceremony of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Development Fund.  
They were joined by representatives from participating organisations, who witnessed the historic moment.

The Greater Bay Area Homeland Development Fund (‘Development Fund’) and the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation (‘Youth Fund’) were officially opened at a kick-off ceremony held at HKEx’s Connect Hall on 12 December 2018.

Guests gracing the kick-off ceremony included: Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR; Ms Qiu Hong and Mr Chen Dong, Deputy Directors of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR; Mr Xie Feng, Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong SAR as well as representatives from the supporting organisations of the Funds. The guests, coming from all walks of life, witnessed together the historic launch of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Development Fund and the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation.

For Hong Kong to seize the enormous opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, large Chinese enterprises in Hong Kong, local enterprises in Hong Kong, large enterprises and new-economy enterprises from the Mainland initiated the establishment of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Development Fund to support the development of Hong Kong into an international technology and innovation centre, promote the ‘re-industrialisation’ of Hong Kong, support the growth of Hong Kong’s leading-edge industries in the Greater Bay Area, and to join hands with enterprises and institutions from Guangdong and Macao in the development of the Greater Bay Area. 

Additionally, the Development Fund and young leaders initiated the establishment of the ‘Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation’, which aims to promote exchanges among the youth in the Greater Bay Area, provide ‘platforms, ladders and bridges’ for the next generations to develop, help them tackle real-life challenges in study, career and setting up their own businesses, creating an environment conducive to the realisation of dreams for young people.

Mr Fu Yuning, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Greater Bay Area Homeland Investments Limited and Chairman of China Resources Group, said, ‘We are very optimistic about the future of the Greater Bay Area and are confident about the future of Hong Kong. The synergies between the Development Fund and the Youth Fund will play an important role in Hong Kong’s economic and social development, and we strive to create a platform for the benefits of Hong Kong, its people, youth and businesses.’

Mr Hu Zhanghong, CEO of Greater Bay Area Homeland Investments Limited, said, ‘There is great potential for Hong Kong to capitalise on the development opportunities of the Greater Bay Area. The Development Fund hopes to foster a number of industries that meet the future development needs of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. We have confidence and capability in building the Fund into an important new-economy force in Hong Kong.’

Mr Daryl Ng, Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation, said, ‘Young people have dreams, young people have passion.  When there is an appropriate platform and opportunity, the sky is the limit.  With the vision of “for our youth, for our future”, the Youth Fund will focus on promoting career development of the youth, building platforms and ladders for young people, and creating a conducive environment for them.  Young people is the main force in the development of the Greater Bay Area. I hope that everyone can seize the opportunity, broaden the horizon, improve the edge, and create a better future.’
