Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation First Phase Donates HK $2 million and Provides Anti-Epidemic Supplies To Support different Sectors to Fight the Fifth Wave of COVID- 19

In order to help people from different sectors to fight against the fifth wave of the Coronavirus, the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation has made the first phase donation of HK $2 million through the Anti-Epidemic Support Fund to the “Taxi Drivers & Operators Association” (TDOA) to set up the “TDOA Caring Youth Anti-Epidemic Taxi Fleet”, and kick start the service of “United We Stand, Together We Walk” with 100 voluntary taxi drivers. The taxi fleet, with the taxi drivers being provided with protective gear, would pick up and take the front-line healthcare workers to and from the workplace free of charge to give them spiritual support. The fleet also participates in the delivery of anti-epidemic supplies and other related anti-epidemic work. Any anti-epidemic healthcare worker who requires such service can WhatsApp hotline 51211919 to make an appointment.

In addition, the Foundation also donated anti-epidemic supplies to support the community. 5,000 sets of rapid antigen test kits were donated to the Y.Elites Association for distribution to the volunteers of their caring delivery vehicles as well as homes for the elderly. The Foundation also sponsored 50,000 kid’s masks to Hong Kong Youths Anti-Coronavirus Link, a campaign initiated by Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link, Hong Kong United Youth Association and various youth organisations. The masks will be distributed to families in need through kindergartens and primary schools, so as to contribute to the fight against the fifth wave of the epidemic!

Mr. Daryl NG Wing-kong, Chairman of Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation said: "The fifth wave of epidemic is very severe and creates unprecedented challenges to people from all walks of life. Through the first phase donation of HK $2 million to support the ‘TDOA Caring Youth Anti-Epidemic Taxi Fleet’, the Foundation wishes to bring positivity, care and support to the healthcare workers by ferrying them to and from the workplace free of charge. Apart from that, the elderly and the children are the most vulnerable groups in the fifth wave of the COVID- 19 epidemic. Hence, the Foundation provides them with 5,000 sets of rapid antigen test kits and 50,000 kid’s masks to take care of their health. We will continue to provide appropriate assistance and join hands with all sectors to fight the epidemic, as well as to actively support the government's anti-epidemic measures. We believe that with our unity, we will overcome the epidemic. "

During the epidemic that lasted for more than two years, the Foundation has donated millions of dollars to different NGOs through the previous two rounds of Anti-Epidemic Support Fund to relieve their pressure in time of adversity.  In view of the recent high infected number, the Foundation as the stakeholder of the community will continue to step up the support to different sectors to fight against the epidemic to uphold the mission of putting life and health as top priorities. We hope that the epidemic will end soon so that people's lives can be back on track.
